HI. I'M MARTHA

Welcome to

Drift Yoga & Bodywork Charleston.

I offer Yoga instruction on land & Sea

and Massage Therapy.

About Me.

I enjoy using my hands to create, to connect, to explore and to heal. I have been a teacher for most of my life. I love pizza and sunflowers. I love to travel to faraway places and soak up the culture. I am shy but love to crack jokes. I love to read and visit my favorite artworks in museums. I hate posing for photos and I love eating popcorn at the movies. I believe in the power of massage as a healing therapy. I believe that massage can heal without pain. I believe Massage should offer space to reconnect with our bodies, recalibrate our nervous system, and pull us back into alignment.

My Path to You

Many moons ago...

University of Massachusetts Amherst, BA English, Studio Art & Italian Minor

I started my adult life in publishing, then went on to graduate school to pursue a k-12 teaching certificate in Art Education. After teaching high school art in New Haven, Connecticut, I moved to Charleston where I taught art for the Gibbes Museum as a teaching artist and for Mason Preparatory School. I owned and operated EarthArt Pottery & Art Studio in Charleston and still create functional and sculptural ceramic work for commission and for enjoyment. I also enjoy painting murals and have created several you might have seen around town.

2006 - present

Holy Cow Yoga Center

Holy Cow Yoga Center was my first home-away-from-home when landing in Charleston as a lost Yankee. I began my practice there in 2006, completed my 200hr RYT yoga teacher training with Trace Bonner in 2016, and then my 500hr RYT certificate in 2021. I still practice and teach regular weekly classes at Holy Cow, as well as James Island Yoga, Everybody Yoga JZI, and Salt Spa & Yoga.

I pursued certification in Paddleboard Yoga from the ACA in 2015 and have worked as a Paddleboard instructor in the private sector and for the County parks in Charleston before starting Drift SUP Yoga in 2018.

2025-2026

Trident Technical College

Taking a break from being a classroom Art teacher gave me more room to teach yoga and to pursue my interest in Massage Therapy. I sought to explore the connection between healing with yoga  and healing with physical touch. I completed my studies at Trident Tech and became a licensed LMT in 2026.
